I shared a bunch of photos from the town of Linz am Rhein, in western Germany, a few weeks ago. It’s a medieval town frozen in time, and a wonderful place for tourists like Margaret and I to visit.

As Margaret and I explored this little town, we began to recognize all of the spectacular doors on display here. Naturally, I began to photograph them.

If you’re ever in Germany, in the Cologne region, you’ll find Linz am Rhein a short train ride south along the Rhine River. It’s worth a visit. I’ve written three posts now about this city — more than about any other location on our Germany vacation!

These are great doors, and the architecture in this city is amazing. I can’t really pick a favorite. Between the doors and the gates, there are too many great photos. I do like the unequal double doors at #9, and the doors below that photo – the ones with the magnificent hinges. All in all, a wonderful collection. Thanks for sharing these.

Great set of doors Jim, the sixth image (No.11) looks very English. What a lovely place to visit.

I absolutely love the old buildings and the architecture in Europe. They have taken such good care of their buildings over the centuries. Such magnificent doors. Thank you for sharing with us.

Wonderful doors! Linz was actually the last stop on our river cruise. As it was raining heavily that evening we did not visit. Seems we missed a beautiful town.

What a shame that you were rained out! Linz is worth a visit if you ever get another chance.

A very fine collection of doors. I think I like the door within a door best.

That was a fun door for sure!

I love how you found an opening for these. A good blog hinges on such things. Sorry.

You don’t seem all that sorry!
