We still get some spectacular sunsets here. A Toyota dealership behind our house remains in the way.

Jim these are great…I envy your western view on a regular basis and its access to sunsets! I had a college friend whose first job was in a small town in down state Illinois. The first place he could find to live was a defunct motel that had been turned into apartments on the edge of town. He lived on the second floor, and when he opened his front door, he just looked out over corn and wheat fields into the horizon. He set up a camera on a tripod, and just captured varying sunsets all the time, and storms and lighting rolling in from the far west…the silver lining on a not so great living situation.
It’s one of the few things I like about living in this house.
In the pictures where you can’t read the sign you can always imagine it is a standing stone, lol!
Right!
Excellent sunsets, Jim, and, for me, the Toyota touch adds rather than subtracts from the pix. It sets the images into a real-world time and place, which I appreciate.
I agree. I have a photo of a sunset here from before the Toyota dealer was built, and it just isn’t very interesting. The sign in particular anchors the photos.
I remember when I bought my house in 1994 I saw the most spectacular sunset I had ever seen …. I ran inside and grabbed my camera and took a shot … a week or so later when I got the film developed I saw the awful picture of nothing but wires and a telephone pole!!! Seems your brain can edit out a lot!!! At least your Toyota sign doesn’t hide the beautiful sunsets, I actually like that it’s there for context!!!
It happens to me all the time that when I look at the pic later I see stuff I totally did not notice when I made the photo. Like this one, which I made recently: I absolutely did not notice the electric lines.

They should give you a car Jim!
I bought a car from them once, at their previous location!
