I am amazed at the details of these nameplates that I have never noticed even though I have seen every one of them at some time or other. Like how the gold de Ville leaves solid centers in a few letters or how Continental crosses both Ts with a single long line. I miss detail like this in modern cars.
J.P., back then, they probably had a ten man team (and it WAS men), just working on the logo!
Yeah, the car labels are now all block letters. Maybe this will pass in time.
Love seeing the Olds Starfire logo, I had it’s stripped down but powerful brother, the Jetstar back in the early 70’s which no one remembers now. Also love the Marlin logo, living in Milwaukee I saw a lot of the Rambler offerings on the street like the Marlin, Scrambler, Javelin and AMX. I remember seeing a new Marlin on my route when I was a paperboy, and thought: “…boy, they just cut the back off a regular car and tacked a fastback on…”.
I remember the Jetstar! I found Oldsmobile’s model naming in the 1960s and early 70s to be confusing.
Nice job on the car badges Jim! The Olds 98 is really cool with the Mustang reflection.
I shot these at a car auction, and it was hard to avoid reflections like those, so I incorporated them when they happened.
