Lime scooters

I’ve ridden Lime scooters a lot since the first of August when I strained a tendon in my hip. I had been taking the stairs up to my office every morning, twelve flights, as a form of exercise. I suspect that because of an old knee injury my form was bad, leading to the tendon strain.

At first, I could barely put weight on my right leg. For about eight weeks I minimized walking and stairs, which allowed for some healing but not enough. My doctor sent me to a physical therapist, who has given me some great exercises that are moving the healing needle a lot faster. I’m able to walk around Downtown as I want to now, and even take some stairs, with only light residual pain.

But the Lime scooters were zippy fun while I was riding them. The only trouble is that to go six blocks costs north of two bucks. That adds up fast.

I have not used one yet, but they look like fun. I have used physical therapists and they are not.

      Right on both counts.

My six year old son bought a scooter in the summer, not electric or anything, and for riding on ramps mostly, but some days I walk him to school and he scoots then I bring the scooter home. Great fun, and surprisingly fast compared with walking!

Those little scooters sure can scoot! The electric variety even moreso.

Hate the things. San Francisco just allowed them back on their streets after they tried to force themselves on the city the first time. Chaos. Now there are supposedly rules. Yeah, right as if anyone will obey. If one comes down the sidewalk towards me someone will end up on the ground. If one is in my way on the sidewalk it ends up thrown to the curb. Not being allowed on the sidewalk will last less than an hour. Using these things on heavily congested streets and then going onto heavily congested sidewalks to avoid is simply asking for trouble.

Now that I work Downtown in Indianapolis where all the scooters are, I experience pretty good behavior by riders the vast majority of the time. Most ride in either the street or on the Cultural Trail; very few on the sidewalk. They’re technically not supposed to ride on the Cultural Trail but bicycles are allowed there and most people don’t understand how the scooters are that different from bicycles in that way.

I haven’t tried one yet but I see them everywhere! :) Hope the hip is all better?

Thanks – it’s about 80% better. I’m walking almost everywhere I want to go with minimal pain now!
