While I had Ilford HP5 Plus loaded into my Nikon N90s, my wife bought me a gift of two vintage pocket watches. I’ve always loved watches and for decades have had to strongly resist collecting them. My wife tossed all that good resistance out the window. Not that I’m complaining.
I mounted my 55mm f/2.8 Micro-Nikkor to the N90s and went in close. I shot handheld at box speed, ISO 400.

Analogue Wonderland provided me the roll of HP5 Plus in exchange for mentioning that they did. Get yours from them here.

I recall when pocket watches made a minor comeback in the mid-late 70s to go with the vests that were back in style in mens’ suits. I had one, complete with the little gold chain. I still think they’re cool. But I have not worn it in 35+ years. Now wrist watches are becoming old fashioned.
I haven’t worn a wristwatch in at least 10 years, not since I got a phone that doubles as a timepiece.
Ooooo…this could be a slippery slope Jim! I have a friend back in Arizona who has a hundred or so of these things. ;-)
I know all about slippery slopes; I’ve slid down several in my lifetime! I used to say I was a collector of collections, so many things did I collect. I got it down to just cameras when Margaret bought me these watches!!
Don’t open the top drawer of my tall dresser. I prefer wristwatches myself and wear one everyday since I don’t carry a cellphone. Even if I did carry a cellphone I just think older wristwatches are cool looking.
Wristwatches are certainly a more practical thing to collect, as they’re more easily worn. I wouldn’t mind having 4-5 good old very nice wristwatches, the kind you have to wind. I’d wear them when I was dressing up*, which is seldom enough that if I got ones with batteries in them, sure as shooting the battery in the one I wanted to wear would be dead. With a wind-up watch, you set it, wind it, and go.
*I like watches, but I don’t miss wearing one every day.
I actually forget to wear mine today and it screwed me all up. I thought I was talking to an insurance company at 4:20 and every time they tried to transfer me to an extension I got nothing. Went back to work on my computer and saw that it was now 6:00pm. What a minute!
Watches and vintage cameras seem to go together. I have a few too.
Must be that they share intricate works.
Beautiful work! Love the first and third images!
Thank you! I’m so happy I have this little macro lens. It’s so much fun to use.
