It’s a surprisingly twisty highway, State Road 45 between Bloomington and Bean Blossom here in Indiana. But then, this is about where the glaciers stopped flattening this state. North from here, roads run straight for as far as the eye can see; south from here, they must follow at times challenging terrain. State Road 45 leads the pack. I’ve photographed this road before, in 2013 (here) and 2006 (here), but never before in the autumn. This overcast but bright day gave surprisingly delicious light for capturing the colors and textures here.

Very nice. I love driving roads like that. Not much opportunity here in Tipton County.
Yeah, up here in the glaciated portion of Indiana, the roads aren’t so interesting.
The Mrs and I drove this last year as another way home from visiting our daughter in Bloomington. Beautiful scenery!
But all I could think the whole time was how wished we were in the Miata instead of the minivan.
zOMG, the MINUTE the weather turns, take the Miata down here!! This road is plenty entertaining in my (surprisingly well handling) Ford Focus; I can imagine it would be a blast in the Miata.
Very nice. Southern Michigan is flat like Northern. Indiana, but these shots remind me of parts of Northern MI.
Hope to get to the You Pee one of these days to see. The farthest north I’ve been in Michigan is Muskegon.
The UP is great, but I really like Northern Lower MI and it’s a lot closer.
Basically once you get past US 10 you are “up north”.
You just need a Harley or something snaking around those bends ;)
I’m more of a convertible guy, but yeah!
I’m not a motorcycle rider myself either, a nice sports convertible would do a good job too :)
