I’m kind of over Chevy Camaros. They’re one of the most common cars at shows, and most of them have been up-restored, if you will, from lower-trim models into fire-breathing high-performance models.
I’d love, just once, to see a plain-Jane six-cylinder early Camaro at a show. Vinyl seats and two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. The kind we used to call “secretary specials” when that wasn’t considered un-PC.
But the big red stripes on this one were photogenic, so I shot it anyway.
You say red stripes but they come across as orange on my screen. Could that be one of the pace car editions? Chevy sold a lot of those, white cars with orange stripes and interiors. Or maybe a clone/tribute?
The stripes look red here but not fire-engine red, so I can see how anyone might get orange. I don’t recall what flavor of Camaro this was – I just liked this scene so I shot it!
I will never get tired of the 69 Camaro. I had one in high school. Kelly Green with the 307 V-8 and Turbo Hydra-Matic. Ahh…listening to Fleetwood Mac’s Rumors album on the 8-track. The center console made it a bit difficult to do much serious making out in that Chevy, but I remember some sweet, innocent kisses for sure.
Or maybe it was Hydro-Matic? The years have blurred it all a bit.
The 307 and the THM is a great combination! I’ll bet that green was beautiful. And you were right the first time, it’s Hydra-Matic!
Full agreement on the Camaro. Same deal with fuzzy dice, and accessories on VWs, which is why I have the zero accessory VW.
Stripe looks orange to me as well, but still nice…
Ok, so I could be wrong about it being red!
Dad’s got a gorgeous ’71 Camaro in metallic green. He doesn’t take it to car shows, but when there’s a car show in town he shines it up and parks it at the end of the driveway. Logical to him I guess…!
Cheaper than paying the show entry fees!!
My husband had the 69 Camaro, pace car ….. Orange stripes, houndstooth check seats, When he met his first wife she didn’t like it and made him get rid of it. He still mourns the loss. { the car,not the ex wife. ] We have a 2010 and a 2012 Camaro…. but not the same as the ’69.
Relationship red flag: your partner “makes” you get rid of things.
I know what you mean about Camaros being everywhere. If I am at a car show, I walk past the generic Corvettes, Camaros and Mustangs to look at the old DeSoto or the Packard sedan sitting on the other side.
I’m with you, brother!
Nice pic. Check my website too ❤️
