Well looky here, it’s this week’s best blog posts, at least as far as I (and my feed reader) are concerned.

Good timing, Jim – I’ve been doing a job search for over a year and recently turned one down. This article summarized how I felt – the smart and useful boxes were checked, but there was no way it checked the happy box. Glad you shared!

Another great round-up, Jim — especially the “smart, happy, useful” post. I’d never thought of it that way but he’s absolutely right.

I’ve been away for a while, so I missed the switch to your new avatar. Love the sans-shades look. ;)

      Well, welcome back!

So about the new avatar. I follow Penelope Trunk’s blogs. Do you know who she is? I’ve linked to her blogs on Saturday before. She’s actually sort of a blogging celebrity. I’ve been a commenter there so long that sometimes we have conversations in email. She was very excited to learn I was getting married and asked to see a photo of Margaret. So I sent her one of both of us — and she said, “Ok, you’ve got to ditch the sunglasses avatar. What you look like without the shades is much more in line with how you come across in your writing.”

Well then! I updated my avatar across the entire Internet.

Yes, of course, I’m familiar with Penelope Trunk — probably because you introduced me to her at some point. How cool that you actually *know* her, though, at least through email. And although I did very much like your previous photo (there was a certain coolness to it that I think also reflects a part of your personality) I agree that the new one is more in line with the honesty and openness of your more recent writing. And although I’ve said it before, CONGRATULATIONS again on your upcoming wedding! Couldn’t be happier for you.

    Jim,
Thanks. I really liked the Happy, Smart, Useful blog.
