Would you believe that the newest of these postal trucks were built in 1994? As you can imagine, they’re on their last legs. The USPS wants to build a new fleet but lacks the money, according to the Wall Street Journal.

    I read that article when it first came out, very interesting. But I really wonder if there is some institutional bias in the perceived need for a custom-designed truck. Ford builds off the shelf Vans with right hand drive that would likely be a cheaper solution. I wonder if the USPS is considering anything along those lines.

      Hunh, yeah. You’re right. Here’s hoping nothing stands in the USPS’s way of just ordering something off the shelf. They’ve refitted Chrysler minivans to RHD for mail delivery, so you think a purpose-built Ford RHD van would work.
