Flickr’s Explore feature gathers the 500 most interesting photos uploaded each day. They’re chosen entirely by software, using an “interestingness” algorithm that factors how often a photo is viewed, “liked,” and commented upon; and how active the photographer is in viewing, “liking,” and commenting upon others’ photos. You can see today’s Explored photographs here.
Ten of my photos have been Explored, including this one. It’s great fun: each photo has gotten a ton more views, likes, and comments than any of my work normally gets, and I usually pick up a few new followers.
